Rough Cut Comparison - DigiPak

Our digipak has many strengths and weaknesses. However the design of the album cover is very fitting to the genre selected. The album cover uses art through and now pictures of the band. This fits in with the genre style of artwork over the bands image. The main themes of the graveyard and the skeleton shows the underlying darker themes of the album. The design of the cover is very colourful to reflect the stye and genre.
This design is reflective of Caravan's In The Land Of Grey And Pink witch uses bright colours to create a fantasy style scene showing run down houses and building but in a stylised landscape that counters the potential darkthemes.
The bright colours also reflect the Move's Message From The Country. Message From County uses a variety of colours on objects that do not reflect the actual colour.

Costumes
This is the costumes that we plan on using in the video and in images of the band to make them look most like they fit in the psychedelic genre. From pervious research I have seen this what the costumes most look like.

Problem
We shot this in a different ratio to the rest of the footage, so we needed to reset the camera settings to ensure the different shots would work together.

New Digipak Flatplan
We change the design of the digipak based on an idea I came up with regarding the song that we were going to do as it is an upbeat song with darker sounding lyrics and the main theme of it being death so with that in mind we redesigned the digipak to fit that as it has more upbeat colours and dark undertones.

Tour Poster
| We started out with a plain slightly colourless poster that didn't really fit with the genre that we are working in. The overall look was too plain had nothing to really make it stand out. |

| We then added colour which made it a lot better but the colours obscured the text. |

Fake Album Cover
We made another album cover that isn't our main cover to go on the website as part of the bands discography
![]() |
| I downloaded the brushes of the speech bubble |
![]() |
| Then filled in the background with on of the brushes already on photoshop |
![]() |
| I downloaded the text from Dafont and used it as the main title |
![]() |
| I then added to the background a snow (A downloaded brush) and used to look like stars/stardust to go with the cosmic theme. |
![]() |
| This is the finished product and will go into the website as a previous album the band have created. It makes the band look and feel more real as older music will be "Available". |

Matte Tool
Layer 2 or more clips above each other on the timeline. Position the playhead over these clips.
Select the clip to be cut.
In the Effects panel, go to fx Opacity.
Create a mask with the ellipse tool, the rectangle tool (both can have more points added to them later) or the free draw bezier tool. Draw around what you want to keep: the remaining areas of that clip should disappear.
That should do it. You can adjust the feather if necessary.
The position and shape of the mask can be keyframed (animated) as can the opacity of the masked clip.

Possible Logo Plans
These are some
psychedelic inspired band logos. We will probably make a better one
later, but we are thinking about using the bottom one as it most like
other psychedelic band logos. I'm thinking that we will have to add a
lot of different colours and that is the common theme of psychedelic
rock. Or we will have to find a more calligraphic font.

October 4th 2016 - Filming behind the scenes
Today we filmed drumming which doesn't require people to be in costume. I did the acting, while Jake (filming) and Grace (photography) composed the shot that would go into the final (maybe, if we don't do reshoots) video. It was a short filming session that took place in a music room which we hadn't originally planned to film in (this is why there is no risk assessment with the others).

Album Cover Design
This image was created on photoshop using a variety of effects. The original image below shows the band Procol Harum.
I took the image and created a selection around the band members faces and inverted it selecting the area around their faces. I then used the fill to create a collage of faces around the central image. This idea may feature on the album cover or inner digipak.
