Making The Logo

I start by using paint stroke effects that I downloaded and created an bunch of colours.

Cut a circle out of it to use as a background.

Album Cover Design

This image was created on photoshop using a variety of effects. The original image below shows the band Procol Harum.
I took the image and created a selection around the band members faces and inverted it selecting the area around their faces. I then used the fill to create a collage of faces around the central image. This idea may feature on the album cover or inner digipak.

Font Idea

For the font that will be used on our album cover and website I think Harrington would work very effectively as it suits the genre perfectly.

Possible Location - Richmond Castle

For a possible location I have contacted Richmond Castle for filming and photographing permission on the grounds. The location will be used for primarily filming hover we may take an album cover photo. Furthermore images to go within the digipak and website gallery will be taken on location to show the filming of the video and for promotional uses. A filming date will be selected if we are given permission to use the location.

Psychedelic Rock Album Covers

Klaatu-Hope

The cover of Hope by Klaatu shows a dark image with a red sun. This image creates an otherworldly effect showing a dark side to the album yet the title refers to an optimistic future therefore the album cover reflects the various themes and phases of the album.

The Move-Shazam

The album cover for Shazam has a much brighter tone reflecting the themes of the music. Furthermore the cartoon images of the band as superheroes builds the band an image in theme with the genre. For example Carl Wayne pictured on the left has the M for move representing his role as front man followed by Roy Wood overly stylised matching his appearance.

Psychedelic Rock Music Videos 2

The Beatles use editing to make Strawberry Fields Forever have an unnatural motion. The shot of the Beatles moving behind a tree and emerging from behind the camera distorts the viewer and amplifies the style of the song. The shot of Paul McCartney jumping into the tree trows the viewer off. The video helps the music and visuals compliment each other.

The Small Faces use odd camera angles to catch the viewers attention such as the close up of the studio light. From the second verse the second verse the two singers fade into each other creating a stylized look. However the video features the band on electric instruments despite being an acoustic song. This continuity error makes the video look less professional.

Location Lighting

For my outdoor locations I want the lighting to be natural.

To ensure this looks effective I will need to work primarily between 12 and 3pm making sure that all shots use this time slot so continuity is effective.

When placing the camera the sun must be behind the camera for standard shots to avoid the light shining into the lens and ruining footage. Furthermore the camera must not film it's own shadow to avoid damaging the shots effectiveness.

Insruments

The instruments above are genre specific and similar instruments will be used in our video creating a strong image yet remaining maneuverable for interesting shots.

Inspirational MoodBoard

Reflect On Feedback

After receiving feedback on my concept I have began to work on ideas to improve my concept and ensure quality.
The first thing I will do is begin making posts on how I will design my characters costumes. I will be posting ideas to make the band fit the genre more effectively
I will make a new website design to showcase the concepts on my digipak and music video designs.
And I must create props to show how they will be used in the video.

Summary Of Feedback

Pros
-Good song choice
-Good music video concept
-Strong digipak concept
-Strong genre consistency in song and digipak
Cons
-No consistency in website
-Need test shots for video
-Have to ensure ideas will work
