Analysing King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard - Hot Wax music video

 In the opening shots the videos themes are revealed as bright colours are placed over the band. The directer has placed the band over a black background to make the animations have a strong effect. The shot of the drum kit on the opening fill uses a shattering effect to make the drum appear to smash. This displays the psychedelic themes of the song very clearly. At 0:15 the song title appears on the drum kit making the viewer aware of the song name.
In the first verse the singer sings the lines,

Hot wax crawling under the door 

Hot wax crawling under the floor 

Hot wax creeping under the hill

Hot wax creeping under the sill

Over these lines the animation makes his face appear to melt. This creates the direct link between music and visuals. The make up on the singers face reacts with the color filters making his face appear discolored and in some parts zombie like.

Following the shot melting into another the video becomes very distorted before cutting directly into a close up of the lead singers face. Each time the guitar bends the strings with a whammy bar the camera zooms into the singers face. The rhythm of the music matches the editing pace during this section.
During the line 'Hot wax coming into the brain' at 0:30 the directer uses animations of candles burning and makes the singers head open and brain fall out. This once again is a use of lyrics and imagery.
